WITI Announces the 21st Women in Technology Summit

Highlights Include Global Collaboration and Business & Technology Expo

WITI (Women in Technology International), the leading global business organization for women in technology with more than 150,000 members worldwide, announced today the 21st Women in Technology International Summit, to be held June 5-7 in San Jose, CA.

The Summit is the annual gathering of tech-savvy women, held in the heart of Silicon Valley. Executive women, entrepreneurs, and technology thought leaders from around the world converge to collaborate on innovative solutions to common business challenges; explore new business opportunities that underscore how technology is powering change; and build and expand strong connections in a welcoming networking environment of women committed to helping each other succeed.

A key theme for the 2016 Summit is developing global collaborations. The WITI Summit has become the “big tent” confab for women-in-tech groups and technology-specific media and associations to meet and share best practices. More than 75 media partners and associations from 5 continents support the 2016 Summit. “We have two different women-in-tech associations based in Africa, Asia’s top software developer magazine based in Bangalore, leading tech groups from Latin America, and more than 20 North American women-in-tech associations, all under one roof with a shared goal: helping women succeed in technology,” states Carolyn Leighton, WITI Founder and Chair. “And the WITI Summit spans the full spectrum of technical disciplines: IT, biotech, aerospace, manufacturing, life sciences, and many more.”

Also this year, WITI will replace the Career Expo with the Business & Technology Expo. “When our WITI team looked at the goals of our partners and our members, we realized it made much more sense to offer this new format for face-to-face interactions,” adds Leighton. “Our members tell us they have two goals: networking, of course, but they also want to learn about game-changing products and services and meet the people developing them before they determine an interest in a company as a vendor, employer, or partner.”

The Summit will showcase the hottest technology opportunities. But unlike many technology specific events, the Summit will also focus on strategies, tactics, and resources for helping women succeed in what has traditionally been a male-dominated sector. Adds Leighton: “WITI is unique in that men are both welcomed and encouraged to participate as game changers and partners, working with WITI to create more balanced organizations and empower women and men to realize their full potential and to develop world class organizations that fully leverage the skills and contributions of all.”
